This unit is a complete replacement for the factory cigarette lighter assembly, not just a basic plug-in. It supports Quick Charge 3.0 power delivery, delivering up to 36W @ 2A through handy dual usb ports. But wait, there's more! It also serves as a gauge to meter your alternator/battery voltage!

When your car is running it will display alternator charging voltage. When your car is off but you have the key turned to the full accessory position, it will read your battery voltage. All adapters come pre-wired for direct fitment to the factory connector.

Please note: Minor drilling/ trimming of the factory cigarette lighter location is required (see installation video below). No extra wiring or fuses required.

This only fits 1990-1997 Models.

Having never smoked the cigarette lighter in my 1991 Miata has seen little service except for occasional use as power source  for small electronics. What I really appreciate about the USB design is that it already has the correct wiring clips to connect it the original lighter power connector, and a digital  voltage meter. While generally a voltage meter isn't necessary,  its a great thing to have to determine quickly if the battery or alternator is weak or going bad on a trip before you actually get stuck; I've the found replacement batteries these past few years to be pretty unreliable. Personally I won't be installing it in the lighter hole but instead extending the wires to place it in the lockable center storage console between the seats. That's where I normally keep my phone on a trip. As to the cigarette lighter itself. It will just be reinserted disconnected, into its original hole, to retain the original look.

Your video on install was spot on. Installation was a breeze. 20 minutes tops. The constant voltage read out gives me comfort for being 35 years old.

Easy install, used a step hole drill instead of a dremel/grinder. Red wire blade didn't fit in tight so I crimped it a bit and taped it in. Works as advertised.
